CBS Bahamas a Key Subcontractor for $25M All-Bahamian Leno Corporate Project

CBS Bahamas a Key Subcontractor for $25M All-Bahamian Leno Corporate Project
CBS Bahamas will be a key subcontractor on the now under-construction Leno Corporate Centre Complex, which broke ground in February of 2020. This $25M project is set to be “the single biggest boost to Bahamian contractors in years” as the owner, all-Bahamian company Leno, is committed to completing the build with only Bahamian-owned subcontractors and businesses.
Brent Burrows, CBS Bahamas Vice President, commends the Bahamian project: “Speaking for CBS (Bahamas Ltd), we have done a lot of jobs, but this is the largest we have done for an all-Bahamian-owned company in a very long time, and we are very excited to be part of this project. It is an economic boost that is very welcomed and needed.”
CBS Bahamas is tasked with supplying & installing the exterior glass & glazing, interior glazing, and the interior/exterior glass & aluminum doors. CBS Bahamas is the nation's leading supplier and installer of architectural building products in both the commercial and residential markets; specializing in high-end impact resistant glass & aluminum solutions.
For the exterior glazing package, CBS will be working with Kawneer Architectural Aluminum Products to supply & install the Kawneer 1600 Wall System®1 Curtain Wall. This state-of-the-art Curtain Wall system provides reliability with versatile features. It is a stick fabricated, pressure glazed curtain wall for low to mid-rise applications and is designed to be used independently or as an integrated system. The Hurricane Resistant 1600 Wall System®1 Curtain Wall is an impact-rated 2-1/2 in sightline curtain wall system that offers an additional line of defense against high winds, heavy rains, and hurricanes. This Curtain Wall system is impact code approved to Miami-Dade County, the toughest wind-borne debris standard in the world, and is rated for 200 mph winds.
CBS Bahamas has represented the Kawneer brand for nearly 50 years; and has built a reputation for being the most well-qualified Bahamian company to install high-end Curtain Wall systems on a large scale. The Leno Corporate Centre project will also feature products from other best-in-class suppliers such as Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope, PGT, and SteelCraft.
John Treco, CBS Bahamas President & Managing Director, is excited for the opportunity to yet again show-off just what the company is capable of: "Many people don't realize just how many commercial projects CBS Bahamas has been a part of over the years. Our name is well trusted in the building community. We aren't just known for providing top-quality hurricane rated products, but for also installing them with extreme attention to detail."
Leno is a Bahamian owned & operated financial services provider. When completed, the Corporate Centre Complex (valued at $25 million) will provide 50,000 sq ft of office & common area space. The job site employs around 50 Bahamians, in addition to the many Bahamian subcontractors that will play a part in the project's construction & completion.
