Using An Angle Grinder

How to Properly (& Safely) Use a 4-1/2" Small Angle Grinder

#CBSDIY

Angle Grinders are amazing tools! They offer incredible versatility, and are essential for those who are serious about metal fabrication or even DIY projects.

An angle grinder is a handheld power tool that spins an abrasive disc and can be used for a variety of metal fabrication jobs that include cutting, grinding, deburring, finishing, and polishing.

Follow along with Christabelle as she shares essential safety tips & information that'll ensure you are properly and effectively using your angle grinder... Be sure to check out the project page below for even more information, including a list of the products featured in this video!

Corded or Cordless?

As with most modern day power tools, angle grinders are available in either corded or cordless versions. Typically, the cordless tools will carry a heftier price tag while many corded options are available at very reasonable price points.

In terms of performance, thanks to recent developments in battery technology, cordless angle grinders are able to offer performance specs that are near (or equal to) the corded versions - without the hassle of worrying about cords or outlets. However it is worth noting that the cordless version of an angle grinder will be quite heavier than their corded counterpart, especially when using a larger (5 Ah or above) battery. The longer run time and increased power offered by a larger battery will unfortunately cause the tail end of the tool to be significantly heavier, which may be an issue for some tool users!

In the end, it's entirely up to you just which tool you prefer for your individual needs! Cordless angle grinders provide added flexibility in being able to operate anywhere, regardless of whether there is a power outlet around, but are restricted by battery life & charging when it comes to their continued use. Corded tools offer great features at an incredible value, and are often more than suitable for the average weekend warrior or DIY enthusiast. It's up to you to determine just what you'll be using your angle grinder for, and what features provide the most benefit for your application (while still remaining cost effective).
